When using the tube is it safe to use normal barriers when pregnant?

I mean i constantly worry that the barriers will close quickly and squash my baby bump. Are we encouraged to use the wide ones for people with luggage? Also some tube staff when they see me coming they just open the wide gates for me to get through, it convinces me that the normal ones are not safe. I get off the c2c train and get on the tube at tower hill everyday to and from work
